Tom Ham’s Lighthouse Wedding Photography

Adriana and Shawn’s Tom Ham’s Lighthouse Wedding Photography wedding was one of those wedding days that I felt that there was so much going on, but no matter how busy it felt, it all went according to plan. It was a really great day to be surrounded by lots of awesome people.

We started off the day at Adriana’s parents house for the getting ready photos. It was great because they had a nice big living room with lots of soft light coming through the windows that we could do the prep photos in. When I walked in the girls were already thinking ahead and had all of the dresses lined up and ready to photograph. It was also a nice surprise to see my friend Marisa Von Sheere doing the makeup. I had never worked with Marisa before, but was a fan of her work and the before and after photos that she regularly posted on Instagram. When I saw here working on Adriana’s makeup I got really excited because I knew it was going to be spectacular. I don’t know what her secret is, but she has a great technique of taking the features that a bride already has and enhancing them by highlighting them in a way that looks very natural.

Their ceremony took place at Founders Chapel on the University of San Diego Campus. It’s a beautiful chapel with rich dark wood and stained glass windows. Outside of the chapel is a big courtyard that really came in handy with the big wedding party. It provided a big background with soft light so that we could photograph the 24 person wedding party. At most locations a task like this would be a little difficult, but with lots of shade and a big background to work with it was super easy to photograph them and send them off to cocktail hour.

Their reception took place at the historic Tom Ham’s Lighthouse which has amazing views of the San Diego Bay. We took advantage of those views and created some of my favorite portraits of the day. Wedding locations with views are my favorite not only because it makes it great for portraits with a lot of depth and interesting backgrounds, but also because I feel that it’s a great treat for guests. Guests are able to party, come out for air and enjoy the view, then return to partying. That’s exactly how their night went, it was full of energy and everyone got on the dance floor at some point throughout the night. The energy in the room could not have been better.

I started off this post by saying that it was a packed and crazy day, but it all went according to plan. That was because of great wedding vendors that put together their wedding day.

Vendors that made their wedding day a success include:
Wedding Coordinator: Brenda of Swann Soirées
Hair and Makeup: Marisa von Sheere
Flowers: Unique Inspirations
DJ: Sleeping Giant Music
Ceremony Venue: Founders Chapel at University of San Diego
