Kevin and Bobby’s Martin Johnson House wedding could not have arrived fast enough this year. A craft beer themed wedding with an ocean view, put together by a well-known event designer. There was plenty to look forward to.
The wedding day started off very relaxed. Kevin and Bobby decided to get ready together which made photographing prep details super easy. It also allowed for some sweet moments of them helping each other get ready. The wedding party and family were also at the same hotel, so once everyone was dressed, we went downstairs to take care of those photos. Doing a majority of the photos before the ceremony made the rest of the day so much easier for everyone. It also allowed them to spend a majority of the cocktail hour with guests.
Their ceremony took place in front of an ocean backdrop. There was a nice view of Scripps Pier and La Jolla Shores in the distance. This venue was a great place for a wedding because of the intimate feel. The venue was open so people felt like they could walk around and enjoy the view. It was also small, so you could get space but still be close to the party. Having the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception all so close, makes it easy for guests to enjoy themselves without having to do too much thinking of where to go next.
Kevin and Bobby are home brewers, and therefore, the perfect theme for the wedding was craft beer. Their boutonnieres were made with hops. The flower girls carried baskets full of hops instead of flowers. The centerpieces were growlers from their favorite breweries. Their wedding favors were pint glasses with their names on them. Of course, they also served craft beer.
My favorite moments came after their ceremony was complete. There is something special about getting through the formalities and starting the celebration. It was such a fun time watching everyone get on the dance floor and celebrate their love.
