The Thursday Club Wedding
It is always an honor when someone that works in the wedding industry trusts you with their wedding. This was the case when Heather and Jordan hired me to capture their Thursday Club Wedding. I worked with Jordan several times in the past and he had seen me in action. The cool thing about working with people that also work in the industry is that they usually trust the process. Having their full trust made it easy to work with them and create some great imagery throughout the day.
We started the wedding day at The Lafayette Hotel. The charismatic hotel made for a great backdrop for photos. The getting ready room had a big window that let through plenty of light. The lobby had some nice decor to photograph some details on. We, of course, took full advantage of the front of the hotel to do the first look and wedding party photos. The front of the hotel has brick walls and white columns that added an extra touch of class.
During their ceremony, they had a few unique details. Their wedding party carried in gems during the processional and placed them on the rug that the couple stood. They also did handfasting, an old tradition that has made its way back into modern weddings.
During the reception, they had additional unique details. After a buffet dinner, they brought in dragon dancers to perform for their guests. It was an impressive display of athleticism as the dragons stood on two feet. Instead of a traditional cake, they cut a pie and fed each other. As a pie fan, I appreciated it very much.
Can’t say that Heather and Jordan don’t know how to have a good time. They spent most of the night on the dance floor celebrating with friends and family. There was even a moment that they broke out into singing a Backstreet Boys song from the stage.
