One of the first questions I always get asked when someone inquires about their wedding is, have I worked at the venue they selected for their wedding. I’ve photographed hundreds of weddings in San Diego County and still photographing at places that I have never been before. It’s exciting to get to photograph in a new place and try to create images that are different from other photographers that have worked there before.

This was the case with Jesus and Nicole’s Chula Vista wedding at Swiss Park. Before meeting with her about her wedding I had not even heard of the venue, but I tried to assure her that just because I had not worked there before it was not a bad thing. Often times being in a new place allows me to be creative instead of just relying on past recipes.

Their wedding day worked out perfectly. Having prep, ceremony and reception in one place makes things go so smoothly. This can be important when the couple does not want a second photographer and I end up covering all events and details on their wedding day. The brides getting ready area was just footsteps from the reception hall which was right next to the ceremony location which made moving from one thing to another very easy. I was even able to photograph decor details while makeup was being completed. It could not have been any smoother.

During the wedding day, I had a great time capturing all the great moments and had my favorites picked out in my head. However, it wasn’t until I was editing that I picked a new favorite moment from the day. The moment that Nicole and her dad walked down the aisle and got to the front he looked at her. It was one of those quiet moments that said more than words can say. The type of moment that makes you take a deep breath and take a pause.

When the celebration got going it was a great dance party. I think guests really enjoyed themselves on the dance floor. It was great to see them celebrating the marriage of Nicole and Jesus. It was also great to see Nicole and Jesus enjoying their big day.
