Professionals Fitness Portraits
One of my favorite things about making portraits for people is getting to capture their passions. When doing Professionals Fitness Portraits the passion for the work comes through pretty easy. I think it’s because a fitness coach is usually an avid user and lover of the service that they are offering. A lot of them make a lifestyle out of the work that they do and love sharing that with their clients.
This is Brenda’s session who is a coach at a CrossFit gym in San Diego. She was looking for some business portraits to market the work that she does at the gym.
When setting up the shoot I will always start by asking what the goal for the photos is. It’s important to know what the message is that they are trying to promote to help create those images. For her, she wanted to have the photos be fitness based but that the main message be fun.
We set up a few different workout stations and they played around with the exercises. We did photos with different gym props including kettlebells, jump rope, jump box, and Olympic weight bar.
The outcome was images that met the goal of screaming out FUN. She has a pretty high energy personality and it naturally came out in front of the camera. My favorite from the session was the jump rope shot. We must have tried that shot 10 times before getting everything just right including bouncing hair which can be unpredictable.
