For Cindi and Norm, the at-home wedding was the perfect match. With the help of Amy June Weddings and Events, they designed the perfect low-key celebration in their home.
We started their wedding day with some getting ready photos. When arriving at their home, the first thing that I noticed was that the primary focus of their living room was family. The biggest wall in the living room had lots of family photos, some going a few generations back. There was even a pre-World War I portrait on the wall. As someone who documents family moments, I liked the significance that was given to family photos and used it as a backdrop for their getting ready portraits.
Their ceremony included some singing and piano playing. Cindi and Norm also had a special moment when their four sons, two from Cindi and two from Norm, lit candles which Cindi and Norm used to light the unity candle. No matter how many weddings I’ve seen the most exciting part is always when the couple walks back down the aisle together. There was a lot of happiness in their face.
After the ceremony, we headed back towards their at-home wedding reception. On the way there we stopped at a neighborhood park for some portraits. Finding a beautiful location to take pictures during the middle of a day can be challenging, so I had done some scouting of their neighborhood and had the perfect location for them. There was a park with some tall trees around the perimeter of the park that created a beautiful backlit backdrop.
After the formal portraits, the rest of the day was pretty relaxed. We returned to their home for the backyard wedding reception. The guests enjoyed some food from Bekker’s Catering, some cupcakes, as well as some refreshments. Norm even provided a scotch and cigars bar that came out during dessert time.
I feel like it was one of those days that went fast. Before we knew it, it was time for the bubble exit.
It was truly a pleasure to be there for Cindi and Norm’s wedding day. Working with couples like them makes my job a lot of fun.
