Green Gables Wedding Estate
Jacqui and DJ chose Green Gables Wedding Estate for their big day. It’s a fantastic location with lots of greenery surrounding a historic school house. It is small but looks great in every direction. It’s hard to not create beautiful photos here, but for me, I had a different challenge. The challenge was that their friends had just got married there and I was the photographer for them as well. I did not want their wedding to look identical so I had to challenge myself to create something different.
As we got started I had the challenge in my head. When I arrived, the dress was hanging I had photographed it before so I moved it to the other side of the room to make it different. But as we got going and the important people for the wedding day started to arrive, it got easier to just document the story and not worry about what had or had not been done before. I just kept on photographing and let the people around me influence the way that I framed their story.
In the planning process for their Green Gables Wedding Estate celebration, Jacqui told me about the energy her family brings. It was no joke. Her family brought lots of energy to the day. I could feel it from the start and as the day progressed they seemed to have a larger presence. This is the reason I tell couples that no two weddings are the same. It doesn’t matter if you have it at the same exact place with the same exact details. The most important part is the people that you have there. They will make your wedding story.
Sometimes we have the best luck on wedding days. The forecast called for rain but somehow, the rain stayed north and south of us. It allowed for the ceremony to be outside as planned and everyone could not be happier. The ceremony was beautiful. I can’t imagine having to move it indoors.
One of the best moments during the wedding day was when DJ looked at Jacqui walking towards him, a tear rolled down his cheek and he had the absolute happiest look in his eyes. This was made even better because on the other side, I’m pretty sure Jacqui was tripping a little on her dress so she was laughing coming towards him so there was this mixture of awesome emotions that surrounded the moment.
All in all, it was a super high paced, non-stop day filled with tons of cool moments. I’m pretty sure I did not even eat because there was so much going on. But I would not have it any other way. I love days like that when I’m constantly turning and photographing another awesome moment happening.
