Beach Rainbow Wedding
For Carissa and Amber, it was all about making a fun, colorful and intimate celebration. They had a beach rainbow wedding on a beautiful day blue sky day in San Diego, CA.
We started with some getting ready photos at a Mission Valley hotel not too far from their ceremony location. I wear Chuck Taylors regularly, so my favorite detail that they had was their custom Pride Converse Chuck Taylor All Star sneakers with their wedding date embroidered on them. Their wedding date was the anniversary of the Supreme Court ruling for marriage equality. They also had a colorful rainbow bouquet that popped with color that was created by Jolie Fleur Del Mar.
Their ceremony was simple yet stunning with a vibrantly decorated setup by Amy June Weddings on a cliffside overlooking the Pacific Ocean. After a short ceremony, we did their family portraits and a few couple portraits but saved most of the portrait time for later on when the light would be best.
My second favorite detail from their wedding was their cake. It was a simple white cake decorated with a few colorful flowers, but when cut it revealed six layers of color. A job well done on their cake by JennyWenny Cakes.
After a small dinner reception at Bali Hai Restaurant, we met in Ocean Beach for some sunset photos. As the sun began to set Carissa and Amber became more playful in front of the camera. It felt so natural and we got some great portraits of them having fun with each other and celebrating their wedding day by jumping into the water. It’s not every day that I get to photograph a ceremony and a trash the dress session in one day. It was made even better by the amazing sunset and their willingness to fully commit to getting some amazing wedding day photos.
