Balboa Park Maternity Session
When planning Teresa’s Balboa Park maternity session we picked a Friday morning to give us the best photo backdrops in the park. The park is an amazing place to spend time at and very popular among San Diegans and tourists. Scheduling portrait sessions early in the day has some major benefits.
When walking around we pretty much had the park to our selves. With there being small amounts of people walking around meant that we had fewer people disrupting the flow of the shoot. This allowed us to work at a comfortable pace and not have to worry about rushing in between groups of park visitors. Moving at a slower pace for portraits is also nice since it removes the stress from the participants. We work slow, create great photos and then move on to the next backdrop.
We walked all around the park to utilize as many pretty backgrounds as we could find. We even went down to the huge Moreton Bay Fig Tree in the middle of the park. The tree sits on the edge of a canyon and its a steep walk up or down to the roots of the tree. I was a little concerned that it might be too difficult for a maternity session, but Teresa did not see it that way and was happy to walk up to the roots for some photos. I’m glad that we ended up getting to use that spot. It was my favorite backdrop out of all the locations we visited that morning.
